Specific Goals
Measurable Results
Who am I?
I am a soccer player, a costume maker, an amateur circus performer, a city employee, a union member, and someone who loves Los Angeles.
I have been serving this city for the past 6 years as an employee at the Department of Recreation and parks and I want to make this city better for everyone. There are so many things that I love about this city, I want to make sure those things are preserved and accessible to everyone.
L.A. is for everyone, and that means having people in office who care about every aspect of life in Los Angeles.
Hey, What about those Specific Goals?
Replace aging infrastructure in Parks.
Several parks in CD 5 run on aging telecom systems resulting in slow response times and frequent outages. Replacing these archaic systems (think internet speeds of 1.5 mbps and less, and copper phone lines) will allow parks to handle a higher volume of patrons during peak registration times.
— Replace/upgrade infrastructure in all CD 5 parks
— Increase Dept. of Rec and Parks budget to provide additional programming for youth and adults
Support bike lanes connecting UCLA campus to transit hubs.
The 4 major streets that surround UCLA (Le Conte, Gayle, Veteran and Sunset) have NO bike infrastructure. The major artery roads that connect to Westwood Village have NO bike lanes. UCLA campus has miles of bike lanes that go underutilized because it is too dangerous to bike to the campus.
— Support Westwood Blvd bike lane project currently in progress by DOJ
— Support Ohio Bike lane Project to connect more people along safe routes
Bring business back to Westwood.
Many storefronts have sat empty within the village for years. Restaurants open and close, the only stable business seems to be bubble tea. Now I love bubble tea but it is criminal that so many storefronts remain closed.
— Reduce barriers to opening business in Westwood village.
— Provide incentives to landlords to lease properties rather than sit on them.
Ok, those specific goals seem fine, but what about other issues?
No one can be an expert on every subject, every politician tries and fails to do this. My approach is different, I have the specific goals that I will dig my heals in and PUSH for, everything else I will approach with a simple philosophy: Increase Accessibility. I will view any issue through this lens, what increases access for more Angelenos?
Specific examples would be mandating Metro security staff ride the trains rather than stand on the platform, this will make riders feel safer and increase access to transit for many. Another example would be Homeless encampments that spill onto the public right of way. These are unacceptable and we must be firm in providing EVERYONE in Los Angeles a sense of safety. This also means that we cannot simply throw everything our neighbors own into a dumpster and tell them to move along. We can be both gentle and firm.
